All because of this. I think this article sums up my thoughts exactly.

Is it me or are the Russian spammers getting lazy?

Niksgele say: Has found a site with a theme interesting you.

Niksgele say: I can recommend to visit to you a site on which there are many articles on this question.

Niksgele say: In it something is. Many thanks for the information, now I will know.

Niksgele say: In my opinion you are mistaken. I can defend the position. Write to me in PM, we will discuss.

So long, and thanks for all the…

Fraks.  Battlestar Galactica ended last night; thanks for the big heads up that it was running 11 minutes longer than expected (guess I’ll have to get the ending from iTunes).  All-in-all, a great show although the last two years were painful in spots (Battlestar “Dramatica” anyone?).  Found this humourous article on The Washington Post :D

Just In: 10 Business Lessons From ‘Battlestar Galactica’
In humanity’s darkest hour, Admiral Adama faced the ultimate leadership challenge. Here’s what every business leader can learn from his example.

You think your business has it rough? The people of Battlestar Galactica have lived through a recession you wouldn’t believe. With dwindling resources, a skeleton crew, enemies constantly lurking out of view, and a pervasive threat of annihilation, Admiral Adama navigates the vast unknown. Like any leader, he makes his share of mistakes–sometimes with devastating consequences. But regardless of the fate of that ragtag fleet, the tale of Galactica is rife with lessons that can benefit any business leader.

1. Tech isn’t always the answer.  In the premiere episode, the Cylons took out the entire human battle fleet by exploiting a weakness in the computer network. Only the Galactica survived, because its network was offline. The takeaway? Overdependence on technology can be your downfall.

2. Don’t neglect training.  In episode 4 of season 1, an explosion on the hangar deck wiped out many of Galactica’s top pilots, forcing Starbuck to begin training new pilots. Had Adama and company been training new talent all along, the fleet would have been prepared for such an emergency.

3. Some things can’t be outsourced.  Pretty much every terrible event that befalls humanity in Galactica is the direct result of an overzealous push toward outsourcing human labor to robots. The business lesson here is clear: While outsourcing may save short-term costs, outsourcing the wrong jobs can ultimately destroy your business, the economy, or your species.

4. Update your antivirus.  In season 2, episode 9, a Cylon computer virus threatens to shut down the Galactica’s defenses, vent the ship’s atmosphere into space, and turn its guns on the civilian fleet. No enterprise is immune to viruses, and an infection can have disastrous consequences. Run your patches and updates, folks.

5. Democracy doesn’t always work.  At the close of season 2, the weary civilian fleet votes to stop the search for Earth and settle on a verdant planet called New Caprica. But like so many decisions fueled by populist anxiety, this one proves disastrous, leaving humanity enslaved by the Cylon overlords. Good leaders listen to their people, then make their own decisions.

6. Some problems can’t be killed.  During the Cylon occupation on New Caprica, Starbucks is imprisoned by Leoben Conoy, who toys with her mind. She kills him repeatedly, but he just keeps coming back. We’re not sure what her alternatives might have been, but it’s clear that her problem wasn’t going away. Likewise, some problems simply must be accepted as reality; endlessly fighting them is a waste of energy and resources.

7. Seek strategic alliances with competitors.  There are times when your enemies can also be your friends. In today’s world we call these “frenemies.” Case in point: In season 4, when Cylon rebels find themselves on the outs with their “people,” humanity gets a shot at evening the odds by collaborating with the outcasts to destroy the Cylon resurrection hub. Cylons lose their immortality, and with it, their strategic advantage. Well-timed alliances can change any business landscape in your favor.

8. Don’t store all your backups in one place.  See number 7. If Cylons can benefit from off-site backup, so can you.

9. The mission can change at any time.  Galactica accomplished its primary mission and arrived at planet Earth. Yay. Unfortunately, the entire place had been rendered uninhabitable by a nuclear holocaust two millennia earlier. Boo. New mission: Find someplace else to survive. Your mission can change at any time, whether you’re ready for it or not. Be flexible.

10. Beware of visionaries. Zealots make bad leaders.  There are a few visionaries out their worth following, but for the most part, people who claim to have visions are insane. For every Bill Gates or Steve Jobs in the world, you’ll find a million Admiral Cains willing to sacrifice the entire company in the service of their own egos. Or, worse, you could get stuck with an unwitting Kara Thrace, and we all know she’s the harbinger of death.

Merry Xmas, Mr. Black

9 years and counting…

Whose bright idea was it to move BSG to Sunday nights where it runs after Family Guy? So now 1 of the 2 shows I “tivo” religiously is going to lose out (and no, I don’t have one of those fancy tivo cable boxes that can change the channel for me while I am at work. Sucks to be me…

I guess I’ll be getting a cd in the mail…

[Publisher] 2K [Games] has set up a replacement program for customers who purchased Prey via the Triton download service. A new boxed copy of Prey will be shipped to each customer who purchased the game via Triton, DiStream or www.playtriton.com, as Triton is undergoing a reorganization process and copies downloaded from the service may not function properly. There is no action required on the part of the purchaser. Boxed copies will be mailed automatically to the credit card address on file. Thank you for your patience during this interim period; we look forward to getting affected customers back up and playing Prey as soon as possible.

You got eggnog in my goat milk!

I’m going to have to start taping MadTV again; I don’t get to see it anymore since I am at work when it airs now. I’m sure a lot of the old cast members have left by now but it was really funny back in ’97-’00.

And what’s the deal with South Park “attacking” Family Guy? If you missed part 1 here is a bit from it. Something tells me they’re just trying to make fun of themselves since all the “fallout” from Isaac Hayes and all the religions they’ve attacked. I only saw a little of FG but the rest is on tivo. Part 2 airs Wednesday.

I finished beating Q4 (again) and decided to load up Q2 for old times sake; it’s amazing that used to be “the” engine back then. The graphics look so outdated and sooo brown. But the DM was fun back then so I found a copy of Eraserbot and found some old iD DM levels (base64, city64 & sewer64). Ahhh, precious memories… Base64, City64, Sewer64.

Look for a new redesign and articles soon (I hope).

I now have 10 billion pictures online

If anyone needs them in their 7.2mP glory, drop me a line.

Or you could watch this. I still wonder why this show is being cancelled…

.
. Yeah, I don’t know why the sound keeps cutting out (maybe some new anti-ripping tech?)(maybe I need to update sound drivers?)(Maybe I need a life?)

TNT, you have made my sh!t list

Out of the possible 120 hours (M-F) per week, you don’t have 5 *measly* hours to show Alias any more (and you cut it off in mid-season).

Well, let’s see what you do with your programming time:
- 10 episodes of the X-Files (albeit, all after midnight);
- 20 episodes of Charmed;
- 21 episodes of Law & Order.

That comes out to 51 out of your 120 hours (or 42.5%) of your total programming for M-F for these three shows. For C & L&O, that equals more than 75% of a total season on DVD in one week! Oh, you plan to start reairing Alias @ midnight on 2/8 (but way back at season 1). Great. And don’t forget those “TNT new classic” 1 star movies you air.

I’d suggest you check your message boards; you guys are getting lazy (especially showing a “encore season” of the Closer. Yes, it was so bad last year, we had to show it again but for the entire season. Uh huh. And stop pimping that commercial *on every SINGLE commercial break!*

On another note, I’ve got some feedback from some people saying I don’t update anymore. Look for some changes in the near future.

Been watching season 1 of Miami Vice all week…

What a show; ahead of its time. I’ve forgotten how good it was; I do have it on VHS (taped it off USA Network back around ’90-’91, guess I’ll have to toss those tapes). I watched Evan tonight; that scene at the gas station…in my best Keanu Reeves impression: whoa. Guess I’ll have to see what Jan Hammer is up to these days.

Some quirks about the DVDs: don’t force people to watch previews; that gets me so pissed off, it’s not even funny. Make it a menu option; yes I know you can still fast-scan through them but still. #2: that fricking Universal logo…in front of EVERY episode? Gah! Overall, it’s a must-have, even though there’s some minute video noise (snow) in some areas; guess that’s to be expected. Also the DVD’s are doubled-sided so you have to flip them over a la laser discs (but there’s only 3 of them). Documentaries are okay as well.
