Hell has frozen over!

Hail to the king, baby!

From Wired’s 2007 List of Vaporware winners:

Another December, another list, another crowning achievement by the Emperor of the Ethereal, the Head Honcho of Hype, Duke Nukem Forever. We were going to disqualify him out of pity, but Sir Duke is back for 2007 thanks to a few leaked screenshots and an overwhelming number of votes. DNF creators 3D Realms even chose this week to debut a well-publicized video trailer for Duke’s long-awaited return. Alas, a trailer is not a game, so — long live the king!

A commenter on our 2000 Vaporware awards joked that Van Halen would reunite with David Lee Roth and release a new album before Duke Nukem Forever hits the shelves. Ironically, the re-formed band plans to head into the studio in just a few months. Reader Tiberian Fiend, who pointed this out to us, says, “Old jokes become sad reality as development on Duke Nukem Forever trudges on….”

And if you have no idea on what is going on, read this.

Blog is now on the site

Buh-bye wordpress.com.

Updated the photo gallery; now everything’s data driven and you can search for particular pictures (not all of the pictures have keywords yet, but are getting there).

Now to get rid of this ugly green site…

Ho Ho Ho CompUSA

Glad I didn’t work there. From Engadget:

“Would you check out this layoff slip CompUSA sent around? We know we shouldn’t expect their director of HR to get all blubbery or anything, but it’s like the corporation really is as soulless as it gets credit for. Like, you’re really going to sit in your office in Texas and write a hundred word letter that instantly puts thousands of people out of a job, and the best you can do is “We thank you for your service to CompUSA, Inc.”? Thanks for peppering in that “Inc.” there, sure it made everyone feel great, but not even a personal anecdote or something? We’re actually a little surprised they didn’t finish it off with “and don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.” Man, even in the throes of death CompUSA treats people like garbage.”

Some updates

Hopefully update the site soon; spent last week moving over to a Linux server to run some PHP/MySQL.

Upgraded the dual-core to a quad-core and added 2 more gigs of memory; Vista x64 screams on this configuration; I find that even gaming is pretty similar to running XP (probably just seems that way). Crysis is very happy!

EDIT 12/11:  Photo gallery is back up.
